Just Me

Why do we have to stick to a certain role,
if this is the way we can never be whole?
Is this the way it has to be,
that from this roles we'll never be free?

Why can't be we just who we are,
instead of keeping our true self tied?
Why do we make this distance so far?
Why does the person we really are have to hide?

Why do we stick to the roles we play,
why are we letting this get into our way?
What if I just keep on to say,
why does this pretention have to stay?
A thousand question inside my head,
that keep me busy in my mind,
because I don't see why instead
there can't be another, a better way to find
-because I really can't see,
what it is that's so bad in being just me

Isn't every person an individual,
that we should see as really equal?
Why does the way we have to go
have to be so much harder if we deny to simply follow?
Why do they think being different is bad,
but on the other hand demand to be true
-when following their rules is making us sad,
because this way of ourselves we don't get a clue?

Why do we stick to the roles we play,
why are we letting this get into our way?
What if I just keep on to say,
why does this pretention have to stay?
A thousand question inside my head,
that keep me busy in my mind,
because I don't see why instead
there can't be another, a better way to find
-because I really can't see
what it is that's so bad in being just me

Why can't we just follow our heart
-try to be good, so we don't fall apart,
finding the balance we have deep inside
-because our true self never really died?

We don't need a role to play,
for each person has to find their way
If we're being honest,  we need to say,
that getting stuck into role playing can't stay:
We need to get into our head,
that we all need to be equal and fair instead
We need to think about it in our mind,
that there is a better way to find,
because it is not hard to see:
There's nothing wrong with being just me

WHO WE ARE

We were brought up in a certain way,
with values and standards we see every day:
Our culture is a part of who we are,
though at times the old ways seem to be so far

The world that now we get to live in
seems very different from the way it's been before
-I think that there might be a new era to begin,
about which me might have to find out some more

There are differences to other cultures we might see,
other standards about the way that it should be,
so we might have to question the ones we learned about,
for it is not forbidden to have some doubt

Don't forget about what once was taught,
just stay openminded, so you see other paths as well:
New ways don't necessarily need to be fought,
at times these ways might take us forward - who can tell

We need to start some communication,
because we need the information
to find the cultural heritage that we share,
to lighten the burdens that we all bear

Too much got lost already with time going by,
so we need to learn from what's been there all the time through:
There is just one human race - so don't you wonder why
there's so much work left we all can do

So we should never forget who we really are,
the distance separating us is not really so far:
If we do it right, it will be less every single day,
because we are one family - together we can find a way

Balanced

Looking back to the past, I see
many things as they used to be:
Things that are well worth being remembered for all,
for they are connected to memories worth to recall

Other things need to rearrange,
simply because the times are about to change
-but we should still keep on doing the best we can,
we should remember that our kind is supposed to be human

Don't let money or might get the best of you,
because this way the only thing you'd do
is to harm others on the way that you go
-even more you harm your soul, even if you don't get to know

Try to find your balance inside,
don't be blind - open your eyes really wide,
so you can finally get to see
how much more beautiful this world really could be

We need to find the things that should stay,
between the past and the presence there is a balanced way:
Include nature, include others into your thought,
and the result might be better than the ones you got taught

But most important of all we're thinking of,
is that we do everything out of love,
for this way we can get many problems gone
-simply because the human race really is one
